tagdraft
Release-note drafts from your git log, offline and without an AI step.
tagdraft turns a git log listing for a tag range into a Markdown release-notes draft. You supply the listing (one hash, a tab, then the commit subject per line) from stdin or a file. Commits are grouped by conventional-commit type: feat, fix, perf, refactor, docs, test, build and chore, with ci mapped to build and style or revert mapped to chore. A commit with a ! after the type, or the text BREAKING CHANGE in its subject, goes under Breaking changes. Commits without a recognised type go under an Unclassified heading for you to decide, so nothing is guessed into a section. It uses only the Python 3 standard library, makes no network calls, needs no API key, and does not use any AI service. Limits: it does not open your .git folder, does not read commit bodies or footers beyond the subject, does not call GitHub, and does not reword commits. Review the draft before publishing.
